Apologetics for the Masses - Issue #202

General Comments

Hey folks, this is it. I know you’ve all been waiting for it. This is that twice-a-year time when I come to you to ask for your support for the Bible Christian Society. I ask you to please take a couple of minutes to read through this email and then prayerfully consider whether or not you believe the Bible Christian Society to be worthy of your support.

First of all, I don’t know of any other apostolate that confines their entire fund-raising efforts to just two emails per year, and I don’t know of any other that makes as modest of a request as we do – I’m just asking for ten cents ($0.10) per day. That’s just $3.00/month or just $36.00/year. In the several years that I’ve been doing this, that’s all I’ve ever asked for from you in terms of financial support for the Bible Christian Society…just $0.10 a day.

Now, before you decide whether or not to invest in the Bible Christian Society,, I just want to give you several quotes that I’ve received relatively recently, that I hope will convince you that we are indeed worthy of your support.

I traveled with a Protestant Evangelist when I was younger and converted to Catholicism about 5 years ago…You make this easy, it should be easy and I would love to share with you what an impact you have made…I already have my hands full with a few people, but this sure is fun.”

Making apologetics…making defending the Faith…fun and easy. That’s what we do. Our materials equip people from all walks of life – of all ages, from all educational backgrounds – with common sense, logical, and thoroughly Bible-based techniques and methods for talking to people about the Catholic Faith. And quite often folks take what they learn here and turn around and teach others, just like Lawrence is doing.

There are a lot of very good materials out there that teach Catholics about their Faith – which is a very good thing – but it’s one thing to know the Faith, it’s an entirely different thing to share it with others. Our materials give everyday folks out in the pews the courage and confidence to go out and start planting seeds with people.

Challenge/Response/Strategy

That, in a nutshell, is what we do. We reach people in all 50 states and more than 50 countries that I know of. And, we do it all for free. No one else does what we do. No charge for the newsletter. I’ve seen other Catholic apologists offer online courses for hundreds of dollars…not here. Most apologetics CD’s that are out there cost around five or six dollars each, or more…not here. You can get our CD’s for just a $1.00/CD shipping and handling charge when you order online or, if you mail in your order, you can avoid even that cost. And we have mailed tens of thousands of CD’s out without even a S&H charge to places like Ghana, India, the Philippines, Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. And, you usually have to pay for mp3 downloads…not here.

So, I’m hoping that you will help us continue doing what we do. Again, I always ask for just $0.10 a day. That’s it…just a dime a day…that’s $3.00 per month, or just $36.00 per year. If you can’t afford $36.00 right now, maybe $18.00 today and another $18.00 in six months? Or, maybe you can afford a bit more…we could really use a little extra right now…but, whatever you can do, is greatly appreciated.
