Thank You, Lunch, a DVD set, and a Movie...

General Comments

Hey folks,

No newsletter this week, but I wanted to share a few things with you:

1) First of all, many thanks to everyone who responded to the appeal for donations in the last newsletter!  I can't do what we do - reach tens of thousands all over the world each year with the truths of the Catholic Faith - if it weren't for you.  You have a hand in every CD we send out, every mp3 that someone downloads, every newsletter, and every story of every person who grows in the Faith, returns to the Faith, or comes into the Faith because the materials they receive from us started them down that path.  And, if you haven't as yet made an investment in the Bible Christian Society, but would like to, click here:

You can donate using a credit card or via PayPal.   If you would rather send a check, please send it to:

2) Lunch with your favorite Catholic apologist...me!

Every week I receive a number of requests from people who would like what are, essentially, private apologetics lessons.  They might email me a question they have received from a son or daughter or other family member.  Or they send me an email exchange they are having with a friend or co-worker and ask me to critique it and tell them how they could better respond or what questions they could ask.  Some have asked what they can say to non-Catholic family members to help them understand that Catholics are indeed Christian and maybe plant some seeds of the Faith with them or what they can do to bring fallen-away family members back to the faith.

Well, with 35,000 subscribes to my e-newsletter, it only takes a very small percentage of them asking questions each week for me to be completely overwhelmed.  I simply don't have the time to help so many folks on an individual basis - it would take hours and hours each week that would either take me away from my job at the diocese, or cause me to have very little time for my family.  Given that, I have found a place where I can go to have lunch and invite others to join me for what is basically an apologetics/evangelization Q&A session and/or Bible study once a week.

Those who are local to the Birmingham area could come and join me for lunch, ask questions, or just listen and learn.  But, the plan is to also broadcast these lunch sessions live on the internet so anyone, anywhere in the world, can not only watch, but also ask any questions they may have.  So you could join me for lunch if you are in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, South Dakota, Utah, California, South Africa, the Philippines, Ireland, Abu Dhabi, or anywhere else in the world.

My question to you is: Would you be interested in something like this?  It would be akin to private, or small group, apologetics lessons and Bible studies.  I can teach you...live.  Birmingham residents could join me in person, or watch online with those not in the Birmingham area.  If you would be interested in something like that, please let me know: john@biblechristiansociety.com.

3) There's a DVD set out that you might be interested in.  It's from the One Faith Experience conference in St. Louis that was put on by Jerry Usher's Your Catholic Media group. The speakers include: Fr. Larry Richards, Tim Staples, Deacon Harold Burke Sivers, Teresa Tomeo, Hector Molina, and Adam Blai.  I started watching the talks the other day, and my DVD player conked out after I had watched most of the talk by Adam Blai.  You may not know who Adam Blai is - I didn't - but his talk was absolutely fascinating.  He is a demonologist for the Diocese of Pittsburgh.  He trains priests to become exorcists.  He is not a high powered speaker like Tim Staples or Deacon Harold, but I was riveted to the screen as he talked.

So, I can highly recommend his talk, but I cannot tell you that I've seen the other talks (it's going to take me a couple of weeks to replace the DVD player).  Although, I have personally seen all of the other speakers (except Hector Molina), and they are all excellent speakers, so I imagine their talks were nothing but superb.  You can get more information on the DVD set here: http://www.onefaithexperience.com/ and watch excerpts from the talks.

The cost of the DVD set is $59.95.  However, if you use this promo code - JM2016 - you can get the DVD set for only $44.96.  But, by using the code, not only do you get the lower price, but you get two sets for that price instead of one.  So, you can get one set for yourself and get another set to give to someone for Christmas, all for $44.96.  And, what is even more awesome, by using that code, the Bible Christian Society will get 50% of the cost for the DVD sets!  So, everyone wins all the way around!

So, just go to http://www.onefaithexperience.com/, click on the "BUY" link, and order the DVD set.  Just order one (1) set, and when you put in the code, the price will go down and you will automatically have a 2nd set sent to you.  It will just say 1 set is being ordered, but the promo code automatically notifies them to ship two.

But, this promo code for the lower price and the 2-for-1 deal is only good until December 15th, so if you want to get it, order sooner rather than later.

4) BELIEVE is a new movie that is out today.  You can see a Bishop's recommendation for it, and the trailer, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovVN14DgzIU I watched the trailer and it looked pretty good.  It looks like one of those movies in the line of God is Not Dead, Courageous, Fireproof, and so on.  Not big budget, and maybe a little sappy here and there, but always with an excellent message.  Maybe check out it over the weekend if you get the chance.  To find out more about the movie and to see where it is playing in your area: http://www.believe.film

Closing Comments

I hope to get at least one, if not two, more newsletters out before Christmas.  And I hope this Advent Season is a wonderful time of preparation for you and your loved ones!
